BEFORE AND AFTER: Delta Dartmouth
DARTMOUTH, N.S. — The Armour Group Limited is pleased to announce the new Delta Hotels by Marriott Dartmouth has received the HVS Most Impressive Hotel Repositioning Award from the Hotel Association of Canada.
Monique Rosszell of HVS presented Malcolm Rogers, managing director, The Armour Group Limited, with the award on Feb. 7 at the HAC Conference.
The new 174 room Delta Dartmouth opened on September 14, 2017, following a $12-million renovation. Located in the city’s Burnside Business Park, the Delta Dartmouth is the only full service hotel of its class in the area.
“We are pleased the Hotel Association of Canada recognized the extensive renovation completed to create the new Delta Dartmouth with the Most Impressive Repositioning Award,” said Rogers.
“The hotel was fully converted from an outdated mid-range hotel into a contemporary corporate-class hotel with deluxe amenities. The complete revitalization of the property focused on guest experience and comfort, leading to an exemplary finished product that goes above and beyond Delta brand standards.”
The revitalized hotel offers an expansive 7,000 sq. ft. wellness centre, four times the size of the previous property, featuring first-class exercise equipment, a spin room with Fitness On Demand classes and a dedicated yoga studio.
The new hotel lobby truly represents its surroundings. Dartmouth is known as the City of Lakes, and there’s a lake and paddling theme in the showpiece art installation in the front lobby. These themes are reflected in custom artwork throughout the building.
Food and beverage at the Delta Dartmouth was designed to provide fresh, executive chef-prepared items in a casual and collaborative setting. The main eatery, Pitch & Pivot Social Room, is a welcoming space where guests can feel comfortable having a coffee and working on their laptop or enjoying a full locally-inspired meal with wine parings.
This is achieved through open space with varied seating of traditional restaurant tables, loungers, bar stools and couches. The modern décor of the hotel is truly representative of its surroundings, incorporating lake and paddling themes within the custom artwork throughout the guestrooms and showpiece art installation in the main lobby.
The hotel features a new splash zone with indoor pool, water slide, hot tub, sauna and splash pad; making it the perfect weekend destination for families.
The Delta Dartmouth fills a market demand for a corporate-centric hotel in the Burnside Business Park. It is ideally positioned in the business park with easy access to Halifax, Dartmouth Crossing and the airport. The hotel’s deluxe amenities and focus on guest comfort create a seamless experience for business travel through the week and leisure travel on the weekend.
Guestrooms have one WiFi node for every two rooms, compared to one for every seven rooms, which is the industry average. This means they can use up to seven devices with no lag time. In-room network televisions, a modern take on comfort, and continuation of the boats and paddling theme, are other features of the rooms.
The reno provided bottom-line results on many fronts. It was a true renovation, going right back to the studs to create a bright and open contemporary space. The hotel retained 90 per cent of its staff following the renovation. The project came in just over its $12 million budget, due to some last-minute structural improvements made during the closure.
And the financial numbers are looking good too. During November, they were seeing $90.30 in RevPAR, after being open for just two months.
